History of Department Biotechnology is one of the important applied branches of Biological Science. It is emerging, currently most trending and fast developing field in the world. It has wide applications in various fields like environment, agriculture, pharmaceutical industry, food and dairy, medical, space, basic and applied research, genetic engineering, oceanography etc. Biotechnologists work in research; diagnostics; production, quality assurance and research & development departments of pharmaceutical industries food and various fermentation industries. There is increasing trend of using biofertilizers, biofuels, bioremediation in environment and agriculture as well as vaccines and cancer therapeutics in medical field. There are specialized basic branches of Biotechnology as Agricultural Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology, Genetic Engineering, and so on.
